It specifically supports projects of innovation and excellence to help sustain the institutional preeminence of the College.
It provides unrestricted funds to help the College meet needs not supported by State funds.
It operates in a politically neutral, less restrictive environment and can carry out its mission efficiently and effectively.
It can provide a vehicle for raising and managing funds to supplement those that are appropriated by the State.
The Importance of Independence
An independent organization can maintain a long-term perspective on the needs and priorities of the College.
Independence permits short-term investment options while allowing for flexibility in the choosing of long-term investment opportunities for endowment assets.
An independent organization can maintain confidentiality of donor information when anonymity is requested.
